STILL LIFE  (c) 1996 Monica E. Gómez

Verse 1:
  Oranges in a blue bowl
on the table in my kitchen.
Backyard filled with wildflowers
uncut grass and empty hours.

Refrain:  I’m not playing the game anymore.
I just don’t believe that’s what life’s for.
Maybe in time we’ll all find the way
to lead the still life, moved by each day.

Verse 2:
Black cat stalks the white wings
in the golden weeds where I threw their seed.
I watch from the window
and I know I have all I need.
Refrain

Bridge:  So I’m here in my own house
just watching the sun shine
on the oranges in a blue bowl.
