IN THE WIND (c) 1993 Monica E. Gómez

Verse 1:  Some things change and some things don’t.
Some hearts mend and some just won’t,
but it’s all right my friend
we’ve both learned how to bend in the wind.

Verse 2:  Tender willows softly weep
hard familiar ground they sweep
as in the breeze they sway,
old soil blows away in the wind.

Verse 3:  On smooth water ships are still
heavy sails hang limp until
deep swells break into foam,
white caps move us toward home in the wind.

Refrain:  And the air does not cast shadows.
The hawk soars without sound on wings free of resistance
to changes on the ground.

Verse 4:  Purple flowers with yellow eyes
blink at storms in mute surprise.
Bright petals flutter by,
while seeds float to the sky in the wind.

Verse 5:  Friends we’ve been and friends we’ll be
if we both know we are free
to grow and rearrange
when there are signs of change in the wind.
Refrain & repeat first verse
