WHERE DOES TIME GO? (c) 1992 Monica E. Gómez

1st Verse:  Sunrise starts the clock today, warm hands brush the sky.
Shadows cross the sun’s pale face as time passes by.
He lies in a darkened room, calm hands curled in sleep.
Dreams move over his fair face.  The Lord his soul does keep.

Refrain:  Where does time go? Where does time go,
hour by hour, and day by day, taking our young, our young away?

Verse 2:  He stands before the mirror, strong, straight and tall.
He combs thick auburn hair.  I watch from the hall.
The clock strikes. A car horn honks.  He strides toward the door.
One more quick goodbye and he’s gone to grow some more.
  Refrain

Verse 3:
He builds evening fires for us.  Skilled hands kindle light.
We share warmth and memories with the summer night.
I see his still silhouette, a man grown so soon.
He stares at the backyard flames while his dreams move ‘cross the moon.
Refrain
